SOLD by Patricia McCormick

   SOLD by Patricia McCormick  is truly a one of a kind book. It touches the core of your heart. Lakshmi is a innocent yet ignorant, 13 year old girl from a small village in Nepal. I don't mean ignorant in a harsh way. Lakshmi has been stuck in a small village her whole life. She lived in her own fantasy world where she believed that everyone had a pure heart and that she could trust anybody. As we all know that is not true and she learns this the hard way.Her ignorance and the need to help her family out of poverty leads her to face the real horrors of the world.
 Lakshmi is lied to and sold into prostitution by her own step father. She is taken to the brothel to work. She is violated by many disgusting men. Yet she endures the pain. What keeps her going is the thought of her mother and brother. She is lucky not to fall into temptation to suicide. If i was in her place i don't think i would have been able to endure the hell she's gone through. She is wise beyond her years. Yet she is the very walking dead. She's no longer the ignorant young girl. She understands that the city is full of many bad people.Even the people that are suppose to be good. She is scared to even imagine life outside of brothel. She is a different girl than the one she used to be. 
  I admire this young girl. I think i wouldn't of been able to survive in the conditions she lived. Many of the girls that accompany  Lakshmi in the brothel just seem to think  of it as a way of life. Like there's nothing or no one to help them escape the hell they live in. No one i mean absoultly no one should have to endure anything like this. 
 The world is full of corruption and injustice. It's unrealistic to say that it will come to an end but if we work together there's a chance that it will minimize the number of girls that are being SOLD. 

It's Kind of a Funny Story

  I'm used to reading those cheesy girl books. They all have to do with some girl falling for some hot guy at school, and in the end they end up together.... wow i didn't see that coming (I'm being sarcastic). Those books get me bored. So i needed a change from that and i picked up It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. It's a book from a 13 yr old boy named Craig,  who's struggling with life as a teenage boy.
 Starting this book i thought i was going to end up putting it down and getting a different book. I was hesitant when i started reading it. The first few pages were a little graphic and i though wow so this is what goes on in a boys head i didn't need a book to tell me this, I already knew. I got through the first few chapters i thought it was an o.k book. When i got to the middle of the 2nd part of the  book is when i really got into it. I realized that as a teen we all got the same issues no matter if your a boy or girl. Were all just as messed up. Were got fears, responsibilities , expectations  to live up to, and pressure that is put upon us. I was able to connect to the character Craig on many levels. As a person, student, and teen.
 Having questions about who you are what your purpose in this world is. Most of the time you don't feel like your the best you can be. Like everyone out there is a whole lot better than you. Craig had a problem thinking he wasn't worth anything falling into depression at such a young age. Thinking about suicide being the easiest way to get rid of his so called problems. He was so focused on getting prepared to have a perfect life he forgot about living it. He wanted to be a big important person, with a wife, kids, and a house he could call his own.
 Truth is he still a kid he needs to live his life. he needs to stop stressing about having a perfect future. It's good to have goals for yourself and be ambitious. There's no need to let it take over your life. Now that I'm a teen i wish i was a little kid again. I thought being older would be cool and fun, but boy was i wrong. If I feel this way now I don't want to imagine the way I'm going to feel when I'm a grown up.
Craig no one know why they were but on this earth or who they really are it takes a lifetime to figure that out. Even with a lifetime the answers to those questions may not be clear. You just gotta live your life to the fullest, take advantage of the opportunities you get in life.

The Lion Witch and the Wardrobe

 It's weird that now Edmund happens to be some what my favorite character in the book The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. The first time I read this book i disliked Edmund very much. What ever he said or did was just annoying to me. He was such a nasty boy so rude and cruel. The second time around i followed his journey closely, and i loved to it. He changes very dramaticly. He was blinded by this awful jelousy he felt towards his older brother Peter, his sister Susan, and younger sister Lucy. He was looking for a way to prove that he was beyond better than any of them. he wanted attention, and he was willing to do anything it took to get it. he was not intentionally looking to harm any of them but a young boy like him didnt know any better. He was nieve to believe that the white witch would really make him the king of her "kingdom". he thought this wqas the perfect way to prove he was on a greater level than his siblings. Once he saw with his own eyes how cruel and cold hearted the Witch was he regreted his betryal. (giving his own blood up to the witch). But yet in the end he ends up being Edmund the Just. A huge change from the person that fibbed and made his sister Lucy suffer when she first spoke about Narnia. Even after Edmund knew it was true.
